Prayer
If you have any requests for prayer, please let us know by posting them here. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

Apologetics
Apologetics is the systematic, rational defense of faith in God, Jesus Christ, and the Bible as the word of God. It comes from the Greek word apologia, meaning to give a
"reason" or "defense" and is our Lord's command found in 1 Peter 3:15. It is important that Christians be armed and ready to defend why they believe what they believe.

Baptist History
We believe that the Baptists are the original Christians.
We did not commence our existence at the reformation, we were reformers before
Luther and Calvin were born; we never came from the Church of Rome, for we were
never in it, but we have an unbroken line up to the apostles themselves. We have
always existed from the days of Christ, and our principles, sometimes veiled and
forgotten, like a river which may travel under ground for a little season, have
always had honest and holy adherents.—Charles H. Spurgeon

Calvinism
Are You a Calvinist? If you mean by a rigid Calvinist, one who is fierce, dogmatical, and censorious, and ready to deal out anathemas against all who differ from him, I hope I am no more such a one than I am a rigid Papist…but, as I find it in the Scriptures, I cheerfully embrace it, and leave it to the Lord to vindicate his own truths and his own ways, from all the imputations which have been cast upon them.
—John Newton

Southern Baptist Convention
The term "Southern Baptist Convention" refers to both the denomination and its annual meeting. Working through 1,200 local associations and 41 state conventions and fellowships, Southern Baptists share a common bond of basic Biblical beliefs and a commitment to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world.

Theology
The study of religious truth ought to be undertaken and prosecuted from a sense of duty, and with a view of the improvement of the heart. When learned, it ought not to be laid on the shelf, as an object of speculation; but it should be deposited deep in the heart, where its sanctifying power ought to be felt. To study theology, for the purpose of gratifying curiosity, or preparing for a profession, is an abuse and profanation of what ought to be regarded as most holy. To learn things pertaining to God, merely for the sake of amusement, or secular advantage, or to gratify the mere love of knowledge, is to treat the Most High with contempt.—John L. Dagg

Hermeneutics
God, then, does not profess to answer in Scripture all the questions that we, in our boundless curiosity, would like to ask about Scripture. He tells us merely as much as He sees we need to know as a basis for our life of faith. And He leaves unsolved some of the problems raised by what He tells us, in order to teach us a humble trust in His veracity. The question, therefore, that we must ask ourselves when faced with these puzzles is not, is it reasonable to imagine that this is so? but, is it reasonable to accept God's assurance that this is so?—J.I. Packer

Theology
Unless I am convinced by proofs from Scriptures or by plain and clear reasons and arguments, I can and will not retract, for it
is neither safe nor wise to do anything against conscience. Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me. Amen—Martin Luther
